X and I spent all night lastnight looking at cartoon openings from the 80s and 90s. What ones did you watch until the age of maybe 14-16?

Here are the ones I watched:

Muppet Babies was really good. Muppet characters used their imagination to be anything they wanted at the time, would solve mysteries or teach you a history lesson.

I don't recall Capn Planet that well, except that the character himself was super cheesy. His voice especially. It also helped me out a few years ago with my first hangover - I watched it from 10pm to 4am inbetween puking.

Dinosaucers was probably horribly stupid, but had a catchy theme song and DINOSAURS so naturally, I watched it.

My brother had the 'tism and was obsessed with GB anything, but at least this show was actually good. It declined at the end when they changed writers.

Spidey's 1994 series was pretty awful, all told, but it was a lot of kids introduction to the character.

Another "intro to kids" series, Batman was something we ALL ran home from school to watch. Possibly the best cartoon ever made.

Pirates of Dark Water (cannot find a decent pic that is not porn, because of course)
Really interesting series that had an ongoing storyline. Was cancelled because anything good is cancelled.

Space Ghost Coast to Coast was the beginning of the "Adult Swim" mentality, but without being shitty. Really liked both Brak and Zorak, and of course Space Ghost himself. The entire cast was funny, and it was amazing for its time since it really looked like Space Ghost was interviewing people.

This is an accurate representation of David the Gnome, because he would indeed fuck up your evil shit.

I will add more later.

I'm pretty sure captain planet was Ted Turner's ego and interest in the environment producing a cartoon.

The villains were, like...picture the most strawman argument imaginable and that was it.

Basically it was just totally propaganda. I mean it's not bad to talk about the environment and raise awareness about pollution and whatnot, propaganda is not necessarily bad.

I used to have "star trek: the animated series" on VHS as a kid and I remember watching that cartoon.

A lot of episodes apparently were things they wanted to do on the show but couldn't because of the effects budget and it ended up being way easier to do that in animation form.
