Twenty years of The Darkness of the Outer Limits.
About a month ago I came to the site and the banner was missing from seraphicradiance.net. I thought it was all gone. It was really sad. Took me a second, but I realized that I could just add /bb/ and get here. Relief washed over me. There were even threads that had comments from this calendar year. I'll miss this place in some weird fucked up way if it ever does go. Not that I really remember much about it, but I remember it.
Hope you all are doing well. You cats married yet?

Hi. It's still technically 2022, so I'm here for the 20th anniversary! Making it in just before the new year. The last time I posted was in 2014, or perhaps 2015, as part of what I can only describe as a night of raging drunken nostalgia, no alcohol but complete with the same sad bitterness as a real drunkard. I turned tail and haven't looked at that post since, and I don't think I'm about to now. While I don't think it was that bad if I remember right, I already cringe enough at seeing what I posted here a much longer time ago, but it was all simply life, for all of us, so I don't beat myself up. Still got the very weird nostalgia pangs coming here, but it's kind of cool.
Lately, inspired by Capcom uploading episodes of the Rockman.EXE anime to promote the Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection releasing in a few months (it just figures Xander also mentioned Battle Network in this thread), I was sharing with a friend about the straight line I can draw from then to now in my life, for better or worse, and I was able to find this place once again. Btw, it was funny to me because even in Au.stralia, he had watched some of it on 4Kids a very long time ago, where it was called MegaMan NT Warrior. Anyway, that line...
From being a big Mega Man fan, to Strider's Mega Man Domain/here, to my first real internet friend (Kurozan) and finding Ragnarok Online through his and his friend's forum avatars, to playing RO and very stubbornly making friends in that game, to following those friends to World of Warcraft, to playing World of Warcraft, to Final Fantasy XIV and still that currently. That's how it all basically goes, putting aside details such as those that describe how I got into video games from nearly the beginning of my life, how ridiculously sheltered I was, and my hardly tenable addiction to MMOs.
20 years...20, and where are things now? Bleh, internet and gaming as a whole (but not completely) has gotten so much worse, my computer's surely about to break in the coming year, and I get to welcome the utterly god-forsaken Windows 10. Somewhat random thought: For some reason, Xander's admirable, "I'm 10!!" spirit always stuck out to me then and since, lol. As if my being just a few years older really meant anything, but that's just how silly things felt back then. I said once, or maybe I just thought it to myself, that I'm not sure I ever really belonged here. Might have been true, but you know what, that doesn't matter. It was a part of my life, and that's that. There is no true "belonging" or not. If you're here, you're here.
Besides, Strider's forums were more important to me back then, so fuck you guys! :P But really, I always saw this place as something like a hideout from there, the more mature sister forum to that one. Oh how wrong I was, and I don't think anyone would have it any other way, lol.

Oh. One last thing: What did Au.stralia do? What makes them COCKFAGS? If they just are, then I'm mostly sure I understand.
And one more last thing. You might never guess how I found my way back here, not being able to remember the domain or full address but only the name: A GameFAQs signature from a site that seems to be a failed archive/mirror of a GameFAQs forum thread. Looking again now, TDotOL is also mentioned in a single forum post several years ago on fucking NeoGaf. Weird.

As for the SURPRISE, COCKFAGS!n thing, did you know Mal? If not, he was a regular on this board until like 2006(?) who was from SURPRISE, COCKFAGS!. He bragged about having a hot girlfriend, eventually showed her picture with the exclamation “SURPRISE COCKFAGS” and she wasn’t hot (which in of itself was no big deal, but he bragged about her and hyped her up) so SURPRISE, COCKFAGS! got filtered out to that as a joke
