Yeah, she drinks, smokes and is an avid consumer of porn.

My intent was not to imply that I thought she was because I really don't know her. My apologies extend to anyone who thinks that is what I meant however, and I take blame if I worded it wrong which I likely did. I only meant that I live so cleanly that it's not hard for someone to enjoy being an adult more than I have.

Ah...I think Mal was joking.

But anyway, smoking, drinking, and thinking you rule over 17 year olds is considered 'enjoying being an adult'? You're silly, Squid. Very silly.

My parents still think I'm 15, so I'm not technically an adult yet. I might be someday though!

Adults DO rule over under-18s. It's really good.

I've even been known to tell schoolkids to tuck their shirts in - and have them do it.

Hi all...

I'm thrilled that you replied. God damn it's nice to feel appreciated!

Have been out for the second night in a row.

Last night was 15 shots. All paid for. No hang-over, no vomitting. Good night out with good friends... having had no class today makes it even better.

Tonight was the Gala Night for the College Play. Excellent show, great night out at the Purple Turtle. Buzz and Dre bought me more shots. I treated Buzz, Diana, me, Smerdon and Laura to a cocksucking cowboy each. Gorgeous drinks... farewell $30! :P

Gonna grab some sleep now. Not hung-over and not sick. Needing sleep though. Reply to my diary, even though it isn't my birthday anymore. :D

Catch you all later,

Amanda Laughing My Ass Off

So you think you're clever?

Well you're not. We are. And yet you don't know who we are! Isn't that ironic.

Actually it probably isn't... simply because the meaning of the word has nothing to do with the sentence I constructed.

How absurd.

Indeed.

Complex randominity and all that jazz.

Yes.

So, how are you all? Good, excellent. Moving on.

We are probably feeling better than you. That's because we're here together and you guys aren't. Champagne is good for the complexion. The moral complexion that is. So right now, we're radiant. Or something. I'm sure.

Actually I'm really not. But that's okay because she's not either. I mean I. Ooops, you guys don't get it. That's okay.

Don't worry. I'm not drunk. Extremely happy that "I" am here... I mean, she is here... no I did mean "I" and therefore, so are "we".

She and I are one. Don't believe it? Not surprising. Nobody else believes it either. Then they meet us. And they sort of go pale white, then grey, then a light and delicate shade of green... and nod very rapidly.

Jenna and I are one. Or... no, no "or"... we are. The Singularity. That is us. Or "I". So there.

Confused?

Excellent.

We're not... and we like it. And you can't stop us.

Oh, and Alex... if you ever decide that you want to speak to me again... let Jenna know. Because in the greater scheme of human moral technicalities... you're not speaking to her either.

And that's just dumb.

Laughing Out Loud

See what living in Melbourne does? It gives you such an outlook on life. So does living in Hobart at exactly the same time.

Sorry to confuse you all.

It had to be done.

We had to leave supper... and there was nobody left to confuse.

So we chose you.

Feel privileged. We do :D !

Catch you all... maybe in a bucket... or a net... or just around, or square.

Laughing Out Loud

Hmm, yes well...

After that last post from me and my best friend, I thought I should revert to attempted, yet still amazingly random, normality. It's something I tend to avoid because it makes me like everybody else, but it's late and I'm willing to compromise.

Maybe.

So, on the normal conversational level, Happy Easter to everyone. I hope it was relaxing for you all, and you got some good quality chocolate, if you partake in that ritualistic aspect of the Holy Week.

I had quite a nice long weekend myself. Actually I had a lovely week full-stop.

I went to a gorgeous choral evensong on Palm Sunday, and then a really moving Tenebrae service on the Wednesday. I farewelled all my College and Uni friends and flew home to Hobart on Good Friday, where I walked straight off the plane and into morning mass at All Saints Church.

Spent the day reacquainting myself with my family and meeting my sister's German exchange student. Procrastinated over auxiliary and subjunctive French verbs. As you do.

Went exploring on the Saturday with family. Visited the Tahune Forest Air Walk, which is strikingly beautiful and took Barbara (the exchange girl) to the Newdegate Cave at Hastings. It's breath taking really... and she loved it.

Easter Sunday was fairly uneventful. I slept in for a bit, which was a nice change after being at church for mass at 9am last year. I did some baking of the most luscious chocolate cake you will ever taste, and then went in to sing with the All Saints Church Choir for the "songs of praise" service that night. Was a lot of fun. Got to catch up with people I haven't seen since Christmas and drink champagne in the process. (see last email!)

Fr David had his birthday that day so, as my 18th was a couple of weeks ago, we both got mudcakes with candles in the hall after the service. God I love white chocolate mudcake. It is total heaven. You should all go out and buy a slice or four right now. And if you hate it, mail it to me. :D

Yesterday was my belated 18th party and I had a ball. Apart from my fmaily, Barbara and my best friend/twin Jenna, I had Jess, Henry, the Forbes family, Sassie and her dad, April, Mike, Frank and Jan, Morgs and her dad, Marg and Emily, Jo, Ben and Sharon and John.

It was so good to see them all. ben now lives in Sydney and is one of my greatest friends. We're really excited because he's gonna be in Melbourne on Sunday, so he's coming to visit me at Trinity College. Sharon was my singing teacher before I moved away, and we had a great chat. I got invited to go and give her a demonstration of how my voice is developing at the Con, so I did that today. It was a lot of fun. Smile

So there you go. Back for a week and flat out busy. Tomorrow after I've seen the eye-doc, my mama, Steph (my sister), Barbara and I are going up to Cradle Mountain for a couple of days... and stopping past the Christmas Hills Raspberry Farm, which is ultimate heaven for berry lovers. Then I come back and catch up with people at my old work (GO the Maccas Express store. Gotta love the saturated fat!), have some coffees with Claire and Fran who couldn't get along yesterday and then head off to Jess's 18th bash. I love people turning 18. It's so much fun!

I'm hitting the Salamanca Market for some fudge shopping on Saturday, having some more coffees... hopefully with Fr David, and then hopping a plane back to Melbourne where I'll happily crash on my bed, spend all of Sunday practising and doing assignments... like my French Grammar and Music Techniques: First Species Counterpoint in Three Parts... then drag Ben into college, and hit the Opening of the College Bar party, where the theme is Irish.

Many pictures will be taken. Much Irish flavour will be tasted and flaunted. And I get to see the gang again: Soph, Buzz, Chappy, Nick, Jack, Manda, Vicky, Di, Jenny, Liz, Molesy, Emma, Sam, Laura, Ally, Catherine, Locky, Smerdon, Simon, Acko, Dougal and Sally... YAY!!!

Can't half tell I'm excited about going back, can you?!

What can I say? Melbourne is my home and I love it there. I love the uni, the people, college life, the social life, the nightlife, the music and the theatre and the orchestra and Chinatown and Lygon and Brunswick St and the trams... It's where I belong now.

I realised when I came home this break that Hobart is where I came from, and it's where my family lives. I'll only ever holiday here now. I can't and won't ever come back to live. I've moved on. And I'm proud of it.

Laughing Out Loud

Yay for me!

Catch you all later...

Oh and Hollow: Thanks for the advice. I'll write to you as soon as I sleep and eat something. It really did help!

*Amanda

Yeah..you should stay wherever it's comfortable..wherever 'feels right'. Not just because of family. I used to feel guilty for wanting to move away (and I mean FAR away) from my family..but hey, the internet makes it alot easier nowadays to keep in touch, yes? So I shouldn't feel guilty that I would feel more comfortable away from them. And neither should you..well, not like you felt guilty in the first place. o.o

I'm glad you're having fun with all those birthdays. Laughing Out Loud Raspberry farm sounds awesome.. I can't wait until it stops being so dismal where I live, so I can go out someplace. o.o

You're welcome, I'm glad I helped. I tried anyway. o.o

Arrggh, I still have to get back to you in better detail, Hollow! I promise I will... but yesterday was consumed with last minute shopping, working at the farm and trying to pack... :P

Well I'm back in Melbourne. Thank God! Oh, that's not totally true. I'm gonna miss my family again, and our exchange student, and Jenna and Sassie and all my wonderful friends. And Christopher, now we've caught up again! I figured out on Friday that we've known each other for over 7 years. Very, very scary. We have quite a colourful history!

But I'm not going to miss the petty bullshit that some people still dole out. You'd think by the time they started university that they could get over the envy and jealousy, and downright pathetic behaviour. Guess not.

Not my problem though.

So, what's happening over here?! Umm, weather's pretty shitty, but that's a Melburne Autumn... or so I'm told. What am I carrying on about? I love autumn and winter. They're my favourite seasons. Rain and cold... :D

And I'm actually serious.

Comes with being an autumn baby I figure.

Umm, a record was set here last night. Three major productions had their opening nights: "Norma" done by Opera SURPRISE, COCKFAGS!, "The Producers" at the Princess and "Urinetown" at Her Majesty's. I think. It's a huge thing to have that happen. I had friends at all of them... so I'm quizzing them as soon as I see them. I would kill anybody to see the first two. So you better keep out of my way Laughing Out Loud

Have a good week my children. Work hard in your institutions of education!

Catch you,

*Manda

Heh, take your time. Smile I had a friend for uhhh..well, it was from kindergarten to 9th grade. 10 years I guess? But well, that year..he gave me both a Valentines and Easter present, so I backed off..and stopped talking to him. I know, that's horribly mean probably..but eh, I didn't want to go any farther than what we had. And I wanted the friendship to still be on a good note..so..yeah. He probably just thinks I moved without telling him or something. >.>

Petty bullshit is the work of immature people. I'd know, I used to do it all the time. Laughing Out Loud Not that I'm fully mature, but I'd like to think I'm alot better now..

Rain and cold over there huh? o.o I like rain..but cold, no. Laughing Out Loud

Damn..three opening nights all in one night? o.o Urinetown..gotta love that name.

Look at me, I'm turning journals into chatrooms. Ninja!

Lol!

Well, Hollow, since you're the only one who posts on my journal...

I say to hell with general opinion. My journal can be a chatroom whenever we want to! Hooray for us Laughing Out Loud

It's been rather like that today. Getting excited about small things. Like passing my Baroque and Classical History assignment (worth 20%) and then passing both aspects of the Music Technqiues Stem and Slur Analysis and Fifth Species Counterpoint. Sounds like another language? Tell me about it... wish I was bilingual!

On a sadder note, my professor in French Language and Diction just got really nice and really mean in one go. :P He cut down our final assessment from two french melodies to one... But then increased the Grammar Assignment from 20% to 45%. Blast.

Notice my politeness. I am not thinking that. I promise.

And it's Fresher Talent Time tonight at College. That should be fun... if I can remember the song. It's all about singing out of key. Great, but a bugger to get all the words right. And the notes flat and sharp. Mental note: must call Huw about it.

Okay so yes. I think it's time for lunch. I feel like a luncheon. And I have CHEESE! I went to the market to stock up on real food. Good thing too... the kitchens seem to have recovered their knowledge of parsley... and are adding it to everything. Surprised actually to notice that it's not yet a garnish on the chocolate cake at dessert.

I'm sure it will come!

Off on a food hunting expedition. The long walk to the fridge beside m bed. Which is actually a long walk, considering that I'm on the other side of the campus because my computer lost the network connection.

Not impressed.

Back to the hard slog of Aural Studies and theory. Wish me luck!

Catch you,

*Manda

Sorry, it just feels like a bright orange day :D

Hello all...

It's a beautiful day here in Melbourne. No glaring sun, a light breeze and on/off pouring rain. Ahhh... did I mention how much I love autumns?!

It's still all go go go at Uni, but I think I'm getting this week under control. I especially like today, coz I have no classes! But it's been a bit crazy, running here and there and what-not. Wednesday especially. Finally managed to get some sleep, did some studying, practised for a couple of hours, had my singing lesson, practised some more, auditioned for the Opera Project (which went quite well), pelted up to Ormond College to work on my Techniques Assignment (1st species counterpoint in three parts), dashed back to Trinity and got ready for a big memorial concert that I had tickets to.

It was brilliant, the concert that is. Some of my friends (namely Cath, Nick, Soph, Ally) sang with the Trinity College Choir and Geoffrey Rush did some brilliant readings. He's amazing that man. They had dance, jazz, orchestral, opera and even circus from the the National Institute of Circus Arts. Smile But my favourite was Marina Prior. I've idolised her since I was seven when I saw my first musical. I had just recovered from scarlet fever and flew to Melbourne with my family to see "The Phantom of the Opera". She completley blew me away. And I got serious about taking singing lessons as soon as I got back.

Now I'm studying singing at University.

Told you she blew me away!

Apart from work, I'm pretty much just bumming about the place. Catching a tram into the city to find Gillie a birthday present for tomorrow... cd shopping, excellent! Manda, Vicky and Di are going to see "Pirates of Penzance" tonight, but we're having pre-drinks in Vicky's room first. I'm heading out with a mate from uni, Ed, to do something. Dunno what though. But I'm sure it won't be having breakfast after that concert at 11pm. Well he was having dinner. I was having breakfast! Should be a blast, and then it's Gillie's party tomorrow night. He's good with parties. He organised a great night for my 18th, so I have complete faith that him turning 19 will be as equally exciting. He's just like that :D

Well better go do some practise. Or some French Grammar. Or write some letters to people at home, and my Gran. I think I'll do all of those.

One day...! Laughing Out Loud

Cheerio folks, sorry this was a shitty entry. You'll deal. I know I will. :P

*Manda

Absolutely freezing here. Seriousky so.

Studying in bed to stop the shaking and try and keep my chill down. Don't ask... let's say the downpour and subsequent saturations four times over isn't particularly helpful.

Nearly finished the French Grammar. Had one of my friends come down to help me tonight. He's a champion. Couldn't have done it without him.

Hollow: It's getting worse. I'm drowning in guilt now. I don't know how to make it stop, or how to make it better. I wish I knew a way out of this.

Why are you feeling guilty about it..? o.o You should be happy you're in Melbourne. o.o Besides, guilt is meant for those who did something wrong..you didn't do anything wrong..

Unless you felt like you did do something wrong, then I suppose you need to look deeper into it. o.o

Hmm, well I guess in this instance I feel guilty because I did the right thing for me, to keep me alive and in a relatively sane frame of mind.

But according to members of the opposing state's population, I'm the most horrible bitch out because of that.

See, you know about the situation so I don't need to go back into detail. And you also know how I managed to get myself screwed over by being a doormat and a total pushover. I lost someone I care about deeply. And someone I thought I cared about deeply. Maybe I do. But I can't decide if it's a good idea to remember the past like that. Apparently it's not worth it.

And I thought true friendship was the strongest thing next to blood.

Guess I woke up on the wrong side of reality.

I think the situation fails to realise that I'm hurting too. About many a thing. Including things from months ago that I should have taken action about, but was too afraid to do.

Well looky here: I'm a nutcase. Or stupid. Or hey, even both.

So I feel guilty because I don't know anything any more. I'm being punished for being me. And I'm being punished for being too scared to force an issue when it needed to be forced. Hence, we end up here!

Hooray for the human conscience. It's a real bastard.

The opposing state's population needs to get over themselves, then. They're just trying to get you down..trying to make you feel bad because you went out of your way to do what's best for you.

They're just selfish. And now they're possibly angry, or upset..and they're trying to bring you down with them. Seems like they're succeeding partially..

If the intention is to bring me down and make me feel guilty about the choices I've made, then yes they are succeeding.

But are they being selfish? Or was I selfish in doing what was right for me?

I'm very confused, Hollow! I'm happy that I did the right thing. Even though it got screwed up after it got good. Laughing Out Loud

Oh well, I figure that the bend in the road might straighten out eventually. I just hope that I don't crash into a tree trying to find it. :P
